Determination of mycotoxins

Determination of mycotoxins

Mycotoxins are metabolic products released by mold fungi (microscopic fungi) that can contaminate feed and cause serious health issues for animals. They can vary in type depending on the species of mold fungus, and their impact depends on how much of these substances enter the animal's body. Mycotoxins can reduce animal productivity, weaken their immune system, and cause various diseases, so it is important to ensure that the feed is tested and safe. Our laboratory conducts reliable quantitative mycotoxin testing in feed using a modern enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method, based on the antibody-antigen reaction. Microplates with antigens allow for the accurate and rapid determination of harmful substances in the feed.

We conduct tests for the following mycotoxins:

  • Aflatoxins (B1, B2, G1, G2 – AFLA)
  • Ochratoxin (OTA)
  • Fumonisin (FUM)
  • Zearalenone (ZON)
  • Deoxynivalenol (DON)

- Reduces liver and kidney mass

- Causes infertility and ovarian cysts

- Decreases feed intake

- Reduces body weight

- Leads to abortions

- Causes diarrhea

- Disrupts rumen function

- Enlarges mammary glands in heifers

- Increases the frequency of metritis and mastitis

- Increases somatic cell count in milk

- Increases the incidence of reproductive system infections

- Reduces body weight

- Decreases cow productivity

- Worsens sperm quality in bulls

- Reduces milk yield

- Causes reproductive issues

- Increases cases of vaginitis

- Weakens resistance to environmental microflora

- Weakens immunity

After conducting the mycotoxin analysis, we will also provide an assessment of contamination levels, which will help evaluate the amount of mycotoxins in feed and their potential impact on animal health.
